The scanner will not tell you the frequency is already in the bank, so when you are scanning and the scanner stops on a frequency and you add it it always accepts it even if it already exists. The programable bank will accept the same frequency as many times as you add it. I returned it and ordered the BC370CRS and like it a lot. I ordered this scanner and returned it as soon as I got an RMA number. I thought this is the worst scanner I have ever owned and I have owned several. The scanner also will not search two service bands at the same time and has way to many birdies on all service searches.
So this scanner is excellent for what I need--just to pull in a few channels. It has no luxury functions, is just a robust, plain vanilla scanner. But no biggie, because once I have the frequencies I need in the radio, very little reason to change. It was at first a little difficult to delete frequencies--essentially you have to overwrite a frequency you wish to delete--it's not as simple as deleting it. It took about 15 minutes to set up the radio and program in the ten or so frequencies I needed. I purchased this scanner to listen solely to the air band in my area. Reception was good. I have connected the scanner to a very simple AM/FM roof antenna, and now can hear jets 40-50 miles away as they pass through 24000 feet.
I had to end up installing an outdoor antenna to boost reception and now it works fine. This one replaced my obsolete hand held scanner by Uniden that I had owned for over ten years and only went to 512 MHz. Nice little mobile scanner. I found this a great deal for an 800 MHz scanner. The only reason that I did not give this one five stars is the fact that the reception is not as clear and precise as my original scanner.
my only issue is that the scanner picks up dispatch but has a problem receiving radio traffic from the trucks and they are on the same frequency. the bearcat is very easy to program once you read the directions. i'm afraid that i may need to buy a antenna for mounting outside.i am overall pleased with this purchase. i'm a volunteer firefighter and bought this scanner so my wife could hear what is going on at the firescene. this scanner is priced very low compared to other sites. i have tried the squelch settings in different positions.
I bought this scanner for my nephew.It arrived several days before the date specified. My nephew started it right away & was very happy with it.I highly recommend buying from this seller.
